What is orthodontics?
Dr. Seal, are orthodontics a specialty of dentistry?
When you have a malocclusion or "bad bite," you have a dental or facial irregularity. Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of such irregularities.
What does an orthodontist do?
An orthodontist is a specially-trained U.S. dentist who has completed the required two to three year advanced residency program in orthodontics following completion of their four year dental program. Each program is accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation.
